In today’s Gospel, Jesus stands right where most of us are – somewhere between our baptism and boldly living out our baptismal vows. After his baptism, Christ is driven by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tested. Today, we begin our Lenten journey – submitting to a season of examination, so that we might be fit to serve. The text reminds us, that the enemy never gives up on distracting the children of God. Instead, he returns at an opportune time … And so, it’s always the opportune time to stay focused on God’s will and word.
